Discount Displays announce the installation of a new Roland LG-640 UV 1625mm printer, designed to improve production capabilities and deliver outstanding results for clients. One of the standout features of this printer for Discount Displays is its broad media compatibility. They are now able to print directly onto laminate, eliminating the need for a separate lamination process after initially printing graphics for their pop-up drops. This streamlines the production process, saving invaluable production time as they do not need to use multiple machines to laminate or cut.

The installation of the Roland printer also enables the company to print and cut self-adhesive vinyl for their custom stickers on a single machine. This new printer opens up exciting new opportunities to explore fabric printing, which they have previously not been able to do with their other printers.

In addition to printing the drops for pop up stands and window vinyl stickers the new Roland will enable the company to stay on top of orders, particularly in busy periods, with printing onto all the other materials (Correx, Foamex, Dibond etc) that they use.

General manager, Giles Fletcher, conducted thorough research of the market by exploring a range of ink technologies and manufacturers. One of the biggest challenges Discount Displays faced with its old setup was the limitations of its old latex printer. The high temperatures required by the printer to cure latex inks often led to material shrinkage and warping, causing misalignment issues and inconsistencies in print quality. This not only resulted in unnecessary material waste but also required time-consuming adjustments to achieve the desired output.

Recognising the need for a more efficient and versatile printing solution, Discount Displays sought an alternative that could provide superior print quality without the drawbacks of heat-related issues and excessive post-processing. Ultimately, it was decided that the Roland ticked all of the boxes for Discount Displays as a result of its innovative features and more efficient production process.

The Roland was chosen because of the wide variety of materials that it can print onto. The company has also found the operating costs are also significantly less than other printers. A quicker/more efficient printing process, combined with lower running costs, reduces not only the overall costs but also the cost to customers.

“The addition of the Roland printer is a big step for our business, allowing us to provide products that are exceptional quality at an unmatched efficiency. We are looking forward to a more streamlined production process in the future, and creating innovative products with this fantastic printing technology,” commented Giles.
