The Meals from Marlow charity cricket match brought together celebrities, local businesses, and the community in a remarkable display of support for those in need. It was started during the pandemic, almost three years ago, by Tom Kerridge, (who also created the Pub in the Park), and Andy Agar. So far, they’ve raised just over £370,000 and delivered 190,000 meals to key workers, and those in need, in Marlow and the surrounding towns such as High Wycombe, Slough & Bracknell.

The Charity Cricket Match saw two teams of celebrities, captained by Tom Kerridge and Chris Evans do battle on the cricket pitch to entertain an appreciative crowd and raise money for the cause. Globe Print, a Marlow-based visual communications company, provided a range of printed displays that helped to elevate the event and contributed to its success.

As a local business, Globe Print initially offered its support by providing some banners for the charity cricket match. However, with the growing involvement of celebrities and sponsors, the scale of their contributions expanded significantly. The team at Globe Print worked closely with Brand Events to coordinate a comprehensive branding project that encompassed various elements such as wayfinders, crowd safety signage, charity branding, promotional items, sponsorship awareness materials, and awards.

Using print-on-demand images were swiftly transported to the factory and transformed into a range of products for auction

Nick Wintle, managing director at Globe Print, explains, “Managing the branding requirements for the event presented unique challenges. With eight sponsors, celebrity demands, and coordination with local authorities and charity trustees, Globe Print faced a demanding task. However, the team understood the urgency and importance of the cause, and they embraced the opportunity to support their community wholeheartedly.”

Creating a Quintessentially English Experience

With less than two weeks before the event, Globe Print took charge of the branding process, ensuring that it aligned with the spirit of a quintessential English cricket match. Working with limited high-quality images from sponsors, the creative team at Globe Print skilfully recreated logos and images to maintain a cohesive and visually appealing aesthetic.

Nick adds, “Globe Print went above and beyond by implementing a unique and innovative approach. We collaborated with Jason Clark, the official photographer, to create stunning acrylic prints featuring team photos. Utilising a print-on-demand strategy, the images were swiftly transported to the factory and transformed into stunning reverse printed, polished-edge acrylics, which were later auctioned off.”

This fabulous joint effort helped raise £30,000.

The combined efforts of Globe Print resulted in an array of visually striking branding materials. Flags and banners, Correx signs, wooden table blocks with QR codes, bespoke beer mats, foamboard acrylics, and a free-standing photo display area all helped to enhance the ambience and reinforced the event’s purpose. The compelling branding presence played a role in the exceptional fundraising achievement of £30,000.

Nick concludes, “The whole day was a success because every person and organisation who contributed to it did their part in the best possible way. We were delighted to be involved and be able to showcase the range of high-quality signage and display solutions that our team can provide.”
